RE:  Shasta County Full Scale Exercise – November 17, 2010

         Trinity County Participation

Next Wednesday, November 17, 2010, Shasta County is holding a Functional Exercise, part of 2010 California Statewide Medical and Health Exercise.

Trinity County is participating with a local healthcare disaster exercise.  Our portion of the exercise is a request from Shasta County for assistance in meeting medical and shelter needs for persons affected by the disaster.  (There will be no real patients coming up to Trinity.)  There could also be a mutual aid request for ambulances.  (Not real-time)

Trinity Hospital and Public Health will be testing patient surge capabilities, both in-hospital, and by deploying a new resource in our County, a trailer containing resources for an alternative care site.

The Alternate Care Site trailer contains equipment and supplies for 25 patients, such as beds, linen, medical equipment, etc.  It will require several hands to set it up.   It is possible EMS would also be requested if available to assist at the hospital, depending on circumstances, # of patients & staff, etc.  

The exercise is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We believe a request/page will go out between 10:00 and 10:30, to nearby departments and agencies, requesting available personnel to assist with preparing for multiple patients and triage, at hospital and CD Hall.
